Full Day e-Mountain Bike circular tour from QECP discovering South Downs

A lovely full day self guided ebike tour round the high trails and bridleways on the South Downs ending with a blast through Queen Elizabeth Country Park's MTB trails 

Suitable For

Experienced, fit Adults and older children riding e-mountain bikes. Not suitable for riders under 14 years old

Difficulty

Relatively challenging route. Easy navigation. Hilly terrain with steep ascents and descents mostly off road with one or two road crossings to take care with.  

Ride length

We class this as a full day tour, (around 6 hours longest) allowing for plenty of stops and photo opportunities along the way

This 32 mile route is ideal for a challenging full-day self-guided e-bike tour taken at your own pace allowing plenty of time to stop and enjoy the scenery along the famous South Downs Way. It's a perfect route for groups, or it's equally fabulous on your own to enjoy.

Start from Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Starting from our e-bike centre at QECP.  you'll head out towards Charlton along a bridleway and on to quiet country roads and green lanes until you reach bridleways near the Mardens.

High on Kingley Vale

Heading past Walderton you'll soon be tackling the big climb up onto historic Kingley Vale.

Designated one of the country’s first National Nature Reserves in 1952. It is owned by Natural England and the West Dean Estate, who manage the Reserve protecting its special habitats, wildlife and heritage. Kingley Vale is known for its twisted and ancient yew trees and includes a grove of veteran trees which are among the oldest living things in Britain.

After the exciting descent from Kingley Vale you'll soon be climbing again, this time through West Dean Woods up onto the Ridge of the South Downs Way at Linchdown .  Stunning views await you as you start to head west on the homeward journey.

Heading West to Harting Down

Following the South Downs Way, you'll soon descend to a great place to stop for a drink and something to eat at The Royal Oak at Hooksway.

After suitable refreshments, head back over Harting Down with stunning views of South Harting and its famous copper roofed Church which can be seen for miles around. Follow the South Downs Way westwards towards Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

And Finally...

After the last few rolling hills, you'll enter Queen Elizabeth Country Park just above the charming village of Buriton.

The final big climb of the day takes you up into the country park where you can either roll back down to the start, or if you have the energy for one last hurrah, weave your way through the Blue mountain bike trail to finish the day with an adrenaline rush.

You'll soon be back at the start where we will be there to meet you.  You are welcome to sample the cafe for a well earned coffee and a cake.

We use an app called Komoot to provide turn by turn navigation for our customers. One the app has been downloaded, our routes are available to download for free to your mobile phone.
