Salterns Way
The Salterns Way is a 19km long circular cycle route around Chichester Harbour and involving a short crossing on the Bosham-Itchenor Ferry. It is a great way to explore the harbour by land.
The riding combines lanes and bridleways to make it almost traffic-free and there are many places to stop en route for a drink or a bite to eat.
The pretty harbour villages of Bosham, Itchenor and Dell Quay are on the route, as is Fishbourne Roman Palace. Chichester and West Wittering are easy to add-on for a visit.
The ferry operates non-stop every day from May to September and at weekends from October to April. It costs £3 per adult, £1 per child and 50p for a bike.
We'll be happy to tell you which direction to ride it (to factor in high tide when some roads are submerged) and recommend places to stop.

We now have single day self guided ebike tours available for the Salterns Way...
